20th reunion agenda, revised 2008-08-19

There have been many suggestions for additional activities and we've also included some additional information below. Please review the post for any information that may interest you.

If you haven't rsvp'd for the weekend, please send mail to champaigncentral88@gmail.com. You don't need to send any money at this time. Below we have detailed the events and roughly how much each will cost. Please let us know which events you plan to attend, and how many adults (or children for the game) will attend. At each event you can pay by cash or check.

Below I have suggested you contact specific classmates. If you don't have their address, send mail to the gmail account or google groups. I don't want to post email addresses without asking permission.

Thursday, August 28:
If you are coming to town early and would like to go out on Thursday night, contact Mark Cortez. He is trying to set up something at Guido's.

Friday, August 29:

5 - 7pm Tailgate party: We’ll have hamburgers, BBQ pork, chips, cookies, and Pepsi products. $10 per person to cover food and tent/table rental. Bring your families! We'll be located in the parking lot on the east side of the football field. Kids under 12 will eat for free. No alcohol is allowed at the tailgate.

Central t-shirts will be on sale for $12. All proceeds go to the school, not our reunion fund.

7pm: Champaign Central football versus Normal West (they opened it after we graduated). Tommy Stewart Unit 4 field (you know where it is, behind the "other" Champaign high school. If you choose to attend the game tickets are available at the gate.

Post-game: I am sure someone will come up with a downtown Champaign gathering location. We are suggesting Guido's at the corner of Neil and Main Street. If you haven't been to Downtown Champaign in a while, it has changed a lot.

Saturday, August 30:

Possible golf outing at Stone Creek. Email definite interest by August 22 and we'll see what we can do.

10am: Urbana Dog Park. If you are going to be in the area with your dog, and your dog is current on all its vaccinations (rabies and distemper), then it is possible to purchase a one-day pass for the dog park for $5. You will need to sign a waiver at the dog park and have the $5 to pay on-site. Contact Leslie Hammersmith for more information. http://www.urbanaparks.org/facilities/55.html

11:30am: Informal picnic at West Side park. At the north side of the park there is a nice fenced play area for younger kids. We aren't reserving any area or providing food, so bring your own lunch and show up at the park. (No rain alternative is planned.) After your kids eat and run around, talk a walk over to Central at 1pm....

1pm: Champaign Central is open for you to walk around and
see what has changed or remained the same.

7pm: Jupiter's at the Crossing: $17 per person. Price includes appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks, tax, and gratuity. Children should not attend, sorry.

We have part of the upstairs section reserved, where there is a bar and the option to order pizza.Map: http://the217.com/directory/view/1438

Feel free to attend any or all of these events and catch up with (not so) old friends.

Facebook invitation

We invite you to join us on Facebook if you don't yet have an account. It's been a fun way to catch up with people and it isn't creepy at all (to quote someone else).

Give it a try, it's free: http://www.facebook.com/

Old pictures

I found a CD containing the website from our 11 year reunion. Here are some of the better ones people sent. They're a little small because, well it was 9 years ago in world of technology.
