More reunion ideas

Ok, we've had some suggestions for some additional events that I want to make sure we include as optional ideas.

Custard Cup visits (I am sure this will happen without any formal planning).

Pam Roy has suggested an 11am picnic at West Side park at 11am Saturday, feel free to bring a picnic and then go to the Central tour at 1pm.

Anyone planning on running/jogging in the Nike+ Human Race on Aug. 31?

It's a 10K. Free registration on the Nike+ website (link below). Nike makes a donation to the charity you choose when you complete the race.

You have to run with a Nike+ & iPod to participate. (The device works in any running shoe and only costs $30.)

Anyone who is planning on giving it a go let me know!

Reunion update and news

Greetings Champaign Central class of 88

The reunion weekend is fast approaching and we need to get some confirmation on attendance. If you plan to attend the reunion, please reply to champaigncentral88@gmail.com. You can also find this information (and pictures after the weekend) at http://champaigncentral88.blogspot.com

We only need you to RSVP so we can have rough numbers. You don't need to send any money at this time. Below we have detailed the events and roughly how much each will cost. Please let us know which events you plan to attend, and how many adults (or children for the game) will attend. At each event you can pay by cash or check.

Many of you have asked if you can assist in some way. We'd be glad to have some volunteers step up to greet/collect money at the tailgate or Jupiter's. If you would be willing to help, please let us know when you respond.


Friday, August 29:

5 - 7pm Tailgate party: We’ll have hamburgers, BBQ pork, chips, cookies, and Pepsi products. $10 per person to cover food and tent/table rental. Bring your families! We'll be located in the parking lot on the east side of the football field.

7pm: Champaign Central football versus Normal West (they opened it after we graduated). Tommy Stewart Unit 4 field (you know where it is, behind the "other" Champaign high school. If you choose to attend the game tickets are available at the gate.

Post-game: I am sure someone will come up with a downtown Champaign gathering location, so we're leaving it open ended right now.

Saturday, August 30:

There may be some morning golf options appearing, check the website for updates.

1pm: Champaign Central is open for you to walk around and see what has changed or remained the same. Anyone wishing to bring their families might want to visit West Side park before or after. There is a nice playground set for younger kids.

7pm: Jupiter's at the Crossing: $17 per person. Price includes appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks, tax, and gratuity. We have part of the upstairs section reserved, where there is a bar and the option to order pizza.

Feel free to attend any or all of the events as you like. Just let us know if you plan to attend the tailgate or the event at Jupiter's and let us know how many will attend.

Reunion update

This isn't the most informative update, just a heads up. The reunion is still on, more details will come later in the month.

The plans we posted in April still are on, and we'll post some approximate costs this month too.
